These days, I often find myself pausing while grocery shopping.
“Was it always this expensive?”
Items I used to put in my cart without thinking
now make me stop and check the price again.
Especially when it comes to food for my child.
As a working parent,
even preparing a single meal becomes a challenge.
I want to cook for my child,
but realistically, I just don’t have the time.
By the time I get home from work,
the day already feels over.
In the end, the choice becomes simple:
“Should I just buy ready-made food?”
So I started using store-bought baby food.
It’s definitely convenient.
It saves time and requires little preparation.
But once I actually feed it to my child,
something doesn’t feel quite right.
The seasoning feels stronger than expected,
and many items seem highly processed.
Sausages for kids, various side dishes…
I begin to wonder,
“Is this really suitable for my child?”
That’s when the real dilemma begins.
Do I choose time,
or do I choose health?
Cooking everything myself feels unrealistic,
but relying entirely on packaged food doesn’t feel right either.
I believe many working parents
are facing the same struggle.
So I decided to let go of perfection.
Instead, I set my own standards.
On weekdays, I rely on convenient options.
On weekends, I try to cook at least some meals myself.
And when choosing products,
I started paying more attention.
I check ingredient labels,
and try to avoid overly processed foods.
It may not be perfect,
but I believe it’s the best I can do for now.
Raising a child is a series of choices.
And those choices are not always perfect.
But what matters is
continuing to think and trying to find a better way.
If you’re in a similar situation,
I’d love to know what choices you are making.
How far are you willing to compromise?
